DIBRUGARH: On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Year 2022-23 celebration of Manohari Devi Kanoi Girls College, a talk on 'Contribution of Assam and Assamese people towards nation building: A historical perspective' was organized by Academic Sub-committee of Diamond Jubilee Celebration core committee recently. The talk was delivered by renowned literary person and critique Dr Mridul Sarma, Associate Professor, Department of Assamese, D.H.S.K College.
Dr. Rupali Majumder, academic convenor of diamond jubilee celebration welcomed all. The programme was attended by Vice Principal of the college Dr. Anju Bora and teachers and students of the college.
Dr Sarma, in his brief speech, elaborately discussed about the contribution of Assam and Assamese people on nation building in different periods of history. He emphasized contribution of different noble souls right from Sankardeva, Jyoti Prashad Agarwalla, Hem Barua and various freedom fighters from Assam and contribution of Assamese people on nation building in the modern era. He said, "In mythology, we can trace a strong link of ancient Assam (Kamrup) with greater Bharat Barsha. Use of Sanskrit word in Assamese language also signifies an ancient connection. Since time immemorial people of Assam always intrinsically carried nationalism in spite of their regionalism." The programme was followed by an interactive session with students and teachers of the college.
